AGE

we have chosen for our fiom to be rated 12a as we are ment to be targeting teens from 12/13 years of age too about 17, we settled on 12a as we thought this kind being set in a teenage school is going to have swearing etc.

charactors

we have chosen 4 charactors within the opening:

our main charactor will be chandler, she is a total loser but doesnt have a clue, she thinks shes in with the cool kids. chandler is goign to stick out from the croud as shes not your average nerd and wears very peppy outgoing clothing and is very confident.

another main charactor within our film is brooke, brooke is the IT girl ( the most popular girl in school)

bailey and bella, are the other two popular girls and have a very bitch atitude and arnt very nice. we chose for all three popular girls names to begin with B's so that they can be known as the three B's or the bitches etc.

we

We decided we liked the whole 'nerd' steriotype and decided to go with a look along those lines, we like the girls hair in the picture above so we have decided to have our charactor chandler in the same/similar style.

the clothing choice for chandler is going to be very loud and make her stand out from the crowd, however not in a particualy good way. the tops and trousers etc are all going to clash with each other. this is going to express what her personality is like straight away as you will be able to see how outragouse and nerdy she is without realising infact she is a total loser.

apart of our opening sequence will include chandler on a bike. we had the idea that an old fashioned 'granny'  bike with a basket on the front for her bag and something that most people really wouldnt want to be seen on

music:

due to the steriotype of cahndler we wanted to make sure the music works in to our advantage and make her look very confident in her own mind but to everyone els look liek a total looser the differnt songs we thought would be good for our film include:

barbie girl- aqua
ridin' dirty- chamilionair
hit me baby one more time- britney spears

location.

we decdied a country setting would be nice to start our film with, so that when chandler is riding her bike everywhere country lanes and feilds would be a perfect setting for her.

what have i learnt?

i have wahtced 3 different chick flicks and looked for similarities in all of them and things i think i would like to include in my opeing from this i have learnt that chick flicks all usually have very upbeat feel good music very close to the opening sequence of the film. all the the opening i viewed introduced the main character at the very beginning. Some chick flicks also take you on a small jounry of the main characors life in the begging and thn stop at the age they are for the remainder of the film, whitch can tel a bit of a storey about what the charactor persanality is and how what kind of charicator they wil be for the rest of the movie. i hve also noticed most chicks flicks main charactor is a girl and will have a boy best friend of love intrest, iv also found there is uaualy an 'IT' boy who the main girl will have a crush on.

sex drugs and disco balls

we decided on our production name to be Bjcy as it combines all the first initials of our groups names.

our chosen grene is feel good chick flicks.
the steriotype of our main charctor is a very quirky nerdy girl who thinks shes realy cool and espires to be a inventor, we have decided to name her chandler.

we all realy liked the idea of chandler falling out of bed, falling off her bike and being just a genral dopey kind of charactor we also thought the idea of her being bullied as soon as she gets to school but her havin sucjh a cool aprotch to it as if she doesnt have a clue everyone is laughing at her.

for being bullied we had ideas such as having a bucket shoved on her head, going up to the BFF babes as if shes one of the crew and they aresarkastic with her but chandler thinks they are being seriouse and she is right in ther with the poppluar girls

Film openings of my chosen genre.

The three film openings I watched where What A Girl Wants, Freaky Friday and Beauty Shop.

The opening of What A Girl Wants follows a paper butterfly up high all around a computerized city with really heart warming up beat music and introduces all the key characters.

The Beauty Shop starts with some old school rock and a radio presenter talking over the top as you are given a tour over the town with a birds eye view.

I have decided to write about Freaky Friday as out of the three I like it the best because there is so much going on and you are instantly introduced to the key characters and what their relationships with each other are and what type of personalties they have.

Freaky Friday starts off with very mellow happy music going through family photos of the main characters within the movie, the title is then introduced in calligraphy written on a cream back ground and is drawn on the the screen.

You are then taken to a view of the house and taken inside to a view of a teenage girl asleep in bed next to her alarm clock reading 5:59 am.

The alarm clock signals 6:am and the teen slams her hand on the snooze button and the calm music instantly changes to very upbeat rock music.

Anna's (the teenage girl) mum comes in to get her up out of bed but Anna being a your typical teenager digs her head into the pillow and refuses. Straight away you are given a sense of what you will be in for during the remainder of the film. It made me feel very amused and warm inside as I think my self and most people are able to relate to what is going on.

The shot changes to the mother sat in front of her bed cross legged meditating giving you a rigid idea of her being a control freak.

You then see her go back into Anna's room shaking her trying to get her up again, you are then quickly taken back to the control freak idea as you watch Anna's mum her pick up at least 5 different electronic devices and place them in her purse, she then turns around to fill her sons glass back up and wipe his mouth clean bearing in mind the boy looks about 12 years of age!

Anna's still in bed and as she holds on tightly to her headboard her mother try's pulling her legs to get her out of bed. This made me feel very warm and made me laugh because it really is a real life situation and being a teenager myself gives me a little insight to what I'm like and what my mum must go through. This creates an even bigger rebellion image and she is still refusing to get out of bed.

This is followed by Anna's younger brother coming in with a horn and  holding it to her head and blasting her with noise. This already shows the type of relationships and personality all three characters have within the first couple of minutes of the film. As Anna chases him out of her room she slams the door in the cameras face and you are able to read the words 'parental advisory keep out of my room' on a sign filling the screen, which is then suddenly opened again with anna ready for school dressed in a black and red top with a black chocker and thick bracelet. So the whole build up of her being rebellious is then revealed as she's dressed as a punk.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

  • Focus Features
  • Summit entertainment
  • SKA films
  • The Steve Tisch Company
  • A Matthew Vaughn Production
  • A Guy Richie Film
Straight away you are taken to a cockney crook selling stolen jewelry on some back street very cheaply. The camera  is very focused on him talking, you are instantly given an insight to the characters personality. Then all of a sudden the atmosphere is totally changed  into straight up action as he then gets chased by the 'cops'.
The camera changes from following the characters and is placed at the  bottom of a stair case. You see the first character crash into the side of the wall in a rush to get away, in slow motion you are given a commentary over the top of who  he is and what his talent is The second character then comes round the corner with the rest of his 'goods' and throws them all over the other guy. His commentary is then told, telling who he is and  how he now has to sell on the streets. The title  Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is then typed across the screen

Godfather

  • Paramount
  • Paramount Pictures Presents.....
There is mellow music playing to start with then Mariopuzzos 'The Godfather' comes up on the screen. The music stops and a close up of a mexican accented man is talking very passionately about america. The camera very very slowly moves away as he talks about his daughter being tragically raped and beaten. the camera is taken off to an over the shoulder shot from whoever this man is talking too and he asks why he never came to him first.

snatch.

  • Columbia presents Sony pictures entertainment
  • In association with SKA films
  • A Matthew Vaughn production
  • A Guy Richie film
The film starts off with a shot of the back of a mans head, you are then taken over his shoulder to a shot of two men facing him with a commentary from one of the men about who those two characters are and their names. Suddenly the music changes to a very  greek  sound. You see on CCTV cameras some arabs going through security on the different CCTV cameras you are given key actors names aka Brad Pitt.
They all move through into a lift and end up walking down a corridor into some kind of room that is under high security, suddenly the Arabs rip their clothes off grab their guns and create havoc, you ate then taken to a shot of someone stealing diamonds.
Then the shot  shows them getting rid of all their disguises in the back of a van and you see one of the characters holding a huge diamond. The shot freezes and drops down to the diamond so that it fills the whole screen and the title Snatch comes up

DEAR JOHN

The film starts with John the main character in an army scene being pulled up against the wall by his friend as he has just been shot, you hear his voice over the top explain the first and last thing to enter his head before he blacked out. The scene then dramatically changes to a long empty beach with John surfing. The view then changes to him being on the peer surrounded by a few people and you hear a girls voice  his head turns towards her direction and he sees her bag get knocked into the sea. As her friend  goes running down the peer to try and go get it for her he jumps off the peer and saves her bag. The opening is good as boy meets girl straight away and in such a charming manner, you can tell the rest of the film is going to be full of love and and be sweet but there is a still apart of you that can see it will be a sad story.

VANHELSING

The movie opens with black and white colours and an establishing shot of a very large group of men all with big fire sticks charging towards somewhere. You then see them all charge through a huge gate into the property of a very big house. The scene then changes to a glimpse of a mad professors lab in which he has just managed to create something, someone? I think the opening is clever in the fact the colours black and white have been chosen as it adds to the effect of it being mysterious and scary however even though the opening of the film was full of people running and with big sticks of fire and a very mad professor it seemed fairly boring and wasn't very scary.

THE LAST HORROR MOVIE

The film starts with neon lights flying across the page and the voice over of a news reporter talking about a serial killer that kills teenagers in very grotesque ways, the voice then dims down and spooky music takes over giving you goose bumps before the films even started. You are then taken to a dinner and find a young girl cleaning up she then goes to turn the light off to finish up in the diner and gets a strange phone call in which no voices are heard only strange noises, she hang up and the camera view changes to you looking threw her eyes as a sudden loud noise is heard and you are left with one of the lights moving in the air.

SEVEN POUNDS

The film starts off with glum music which takes you to a medium close up of Will Smith on the phone asking for an ambulance in need of a suicide he then finishes his sentence with him self begin the victim. The screen then changes to him swimming in the sea and you are underneath him and you hear his voice talking about how the number seven appears in a few events.

TOP GUN

The opening of Top Gun starts with calm music preparing for the planes to set off then as soon as the engines starts the music changes immediately to motivating exciting music that really gears you up for the rest of the film, it is definitely one of my favorite openings as is gives you a definite taste for what your in for for the remainder of the film.

SALT

The opening of Salt jumps straight into Angelina Jolie almost being tortured in a dark dungeon like space with her hands and legs tied and is wriggling uncomfortably on the floor trying to explain she is not a Russian spy, she is dressed in her underwear with bruises and blood all over her body, it then quickly changes to her being let go and given over to her 'own people'. The opening of this film I find very effective as you are immediately taken to the drama of the film and are left on the edge of your seat excited to know exactly why she was there and whether or not she is in-fact a russian spy?

ICE AGE 1

The film starts with snow falling to the ground on a pure white iced over cliff and a squirrel trying to burry his acorn and finding it very difficult. Finally he manages to get the acorn stuck in the ground but a huge misfortune happens and the cliff starts to crack. The camera follows the crack all the way to the edge of the cliffs and all of a sudden the squirrel falls through holding on to his acorn for dear life and soon ends up flat on his face on some mud the camera then changes view and you see all the ice age animals marching away. The opening of this film is good as it is very comical but gets slightly boring as it drags on for a little while.
